Established 20th June 1997

In 1997 Leica Instruments underwent a global re-engineering process and as a result the Scientific and Microscopy group was officially separated from the Survey and Geodesy group. Two new independent Companies were subsequently formed; Leica Microsystems and Leica Geosystems

Leica Microsystems presented an opportunity to negotiate a new relationship structure between the two parties. The formation of an exclusive Service Agency agreement for Western Australia and the Northern Territory seemed logical and so LMG Scientific Services was born.

With good faith and continued support from our WA and NT Customers, including people that I have known and trusted over the last 30 years, I was encouraged to take the plunge and make LMG a “Local” service support organisation. Our main goal was to secure the future servicing and maintenance of Microscopy, Histology and Surgical products based in Perth.

The valued support we continue to receive has enabled our Company to expand to 6 employees and we hope to continue with training young apprentices in what was regarded as a “dying trade”.

Although there is no specific training course available in our profession a TAFE Certificate 3 in electronic servicing combined with 4 years of “in-house” and “on-site” training is provided.

We believe we are producing fine quality Technicians for the future needs of our Customers in WA and the NT.

We are proud of our long-standing reputation in the local market place for the services we provide and firmly believe we are unmatched in our fields of expertise.

We are also one of very few Companies that have an Apprentice Scheme in place and are heavily committed to building up the knowledge base in W.A. and to train apprentices “in-house” for the future support of our Customer base.

In addition to our successful apprenticeship scheme, we also have in our team some highly experienced Technicians from diverse but closely affiliated areas such as, medical and commercial electronics. These areas include life support equipment, medical monitoring networks and surgical laser applications as well as skills in communication equipment and refrigeration technologies.

Our senior technicians are overseas factory trained and hold current electrical workers licenses as required for the state of Western Australia. They also hold current licensing requirements for medical grade lasers.

These additional skills have enhanced our Company with a wealth of expertise and when combined with our own specialties, enables us to supply excellent service support solutions for our Customers at an affordable price.

We have at present over 70 existing Service Agreements in place throughout Western Australia and as mentioned earlier, we also support the Northern Territory from Darwin to Alice Springs, to whom we have been providing our services for more than 12 years.

Our commitment to quality is both ongoing and professional at the highest level with annual update training combined with 33 years experience in Microscopy and over 17 years experience in Histo Pathology. We also have the privilege of being the only Authorised Service Partner / Agent for Leica Microsystems in Western Australia and the Northern Territory as well as being the preferred service provider for other leading manufacturers.

Our mission is for LMG to be your first choice provider for the supply of Professional Services in all industries for Repairs, Maintenance, Technical support and Application advice in the area’s of General Microscopy, Surgical Microtomy, Digital Imaging, Microtomy, Cryo-Microtomy and Histo Pathology.
